The Aurora plant will be located at the Mongstad industrial site in Norway, near the Equinor refinery. The estimated plant capacity will be 6,000 tons of hydrogen per day. Once manufactured, liquid hydrogen will be delivered by Wilhelmsen vessels to western Norway. By the way, these vessels also run on hydrogen engines.

The preparatory engineering phase has been already completed for today. Commercial transportation of liquid hydrogen produced at the plant's facilities is planned to be carried out starting from 2024. The Aurora project is also planned to be involved in the initiative of the Pan-European Hydrogen Alliance (IPCEI), which could provide full or partial government funding.
