A biogas plant will be built in Lviv13.05.2021Biogas will be generated from sewage sludge using fermentation technology with high-temperature hydrolysis. This innovative technology increases the amount of extracted gas by 20% and also reduces the amount of sludge in the reservoir, being a source for production by 30%.
The cost of the project will constitute € 31.5 million. It will be financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (€ 15 million), the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (€ 5 million), the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership E5P (€ 7.5 million grant), and the Lviv City Council (€ 4 million).
According to the terms of the contract, the station is to start operation by June 2023. During this period, technical documentation is to be elaborated; construction and installation work and station commissioning are to be carried out.
