Despite the coronavirus crisis, last year the capacity of green energy in Ukraine increased by 22% and currently amounts to 8.5 GW. Such data is provided by the State Agency for Energy Efficiency.

Green energy in Ukraine is represented by solar power stations (including stations in private households), wind power plants, power plants on biomass and biogas, as well as small hydropower facilities. Recently, there has been an increase in the demand for solar stations in private households. Only in 2020, more than 8,000 households installed solar panels. The total capacity of all household solar plants in Ukraine was 780 MW at the beginning of 2021. It was Ukraine that ranked third in Europe in terms of installed solar stations capacity at the end of 2019.
